so we went to star valley early this week. and i was super stoked. i have friends there and there was a pool where we were staying. i was going to see my dad and sister and my grandparents, both sets. :) everything was going to be great.
when we got to idaho falls, at my grandparents, we met my dad and sister and her boyfriend shane there. grandma made a yummy dinner for all of us. so fun. i love seeing them all.
we got to star valley kinda late. ryan got up the next day and got ready to go to a store to buy a cord that we forgot for the computer so that i could work....so after he headed for his first day of work out there. he came home a little before noon with a certain look on his face. i knew something was wrong.
he kissed me and hugged me. "what?"... long story short, the people that ryan would be working with in star valley sent him the wrong schedule. and we weren't supposed to be there this week. let me tell you... this is the first time something like this has happened with these people. i thought my whole world was going to crash down. not really, but you would probably think that if you saw all the tears i cried. i was so frustrated. nothing seemed like it was going to work. i was going to see so many people! all my friends... a lot of family! tetonia, where i hadn't been in nearly 10 years! but after ryan calmed me down. it was going to be ok. we could still see my friends, and still see my grandparents. it was all working out ok. thanks to my loving husband.
so we visted some friends that day and packed up and headed to my grandma and grandpa cooks. got there late. but it was so wonderful to be around them. and was even better to see uncle dale and aunt denise's motor home parked on the front lawn. i missed all of it. even though the area had changed and her home was different, it still had the same feel. she even got out the sweet little animals she used to keep in her china cabinet for me an my sisters. we played with them a lot. i was like a little girl again.
woke up and we all ate breakfast together. it's so sweet to still see grandpa stand and wait to seat grandma at the table. he has done that as long as i could remember. i had some work to do, but was able to get it done early afternoon. and uncle dale and aunt denise came inside to hang out. oh i missed them. they are so silly. and grandpa was putting on his boots, our screen saver came on... guess what pictures come up?
"
the year of the beard"
oh yes. my grandpa could not stop laughing. i wish i could quote exactly the things he was saying for each picture and describe his giggle and deep from the gut laugh. but i can't. we were all rolling and my cheeks hurt after he left for work. i guess you would have to know him to picture it.
i love all of you... forever.
we headed back to idaho falls to pick up a few things for ryan's work and we stopped in blackfoot to see sierra's apartment and a bite to eat.
we decided mexican food. dad was running late so we met him at the restaurant. ryan and i got the same thing. and it was yummo. dad got a ranch burger. and when he asked the waitress what comes on it. she said "ranch in da bread" and we thought she probably meant on. and she asked what type of fries as she listed the types, but she spoke so fast all the words blended. her accent may have had something to do with it. he said "how many fries??" it was hilarious.
so it came and his hamburger was floppy and soggy and disgusting. maybe she really did mean "ranch in da bread". sierra was laughing historically as he flopped it about. i was gagging when he took a bite. sick! glad he didn't have to pay for it. or was it that he didn't pay for it? i can't remember.
we all went outside to say our goodbyes. and sierra whispered in my ear "rattle snake eggs"... well when ryan went to the store in star valley, he bought a little pouch ...
he played that trick on me earlier, but i knew something was going to happen with the way he put it in my hand and let me study it and of course the look on his face. but the curiosity was way more intense... so i had to look. so i did it to sierra. she jumped like crazy! we just had to do it to dad.
how it works:
 |
| little beads |
 |
| and this wind up thingy |
so you wind up the wind up thingy and place it in the pouch carefully. so when it's opened it makes the washer rattle the envelope and the beads make rattling noises.
if i would have thought a little more about doing this to my dad, i may have backed out. like when my dad sleeps and you try to wake him up, he wakes up swinging his fists and/or jumps. we ended up waking him with a broom stick after we learned this. he is very quick with his reactions.
so instead of him being able to study, i got it out of the truck and walked over to him saying look at this.. and opened it myself and put it in his face. he said he thought it was candy, so he was reaching in to grab a piece. it rattled and oh. my. gosh.... he jumped and gasped and ducked and slapped my hand sooo hard, it left a hand print on my hand. we were all laughing sooo hard. it was great. wish we could have had it on tape.
thanks for the visit all of you. xoxo
