it was time. and the chickens knew it.

so you remember this post right?...
well, it was time to put the whizbang chicken plucker ryan, but mostly his dad made, to use.

don't read this if you are a vegetarian... this is a story of what these chickens were raised for.

and how they made it to our freezer...

i told them from the beginning i would not help, because i don't do well with the sight of blood. but ryan really wanted some home grown chickens, and so this is how the story goes...

don't even ask me why they decided to do it on a week day. they weren't really sure how smooth the process was going to go. they had never done this before. and we started way later than i was expecting.

i wanted a picture of their big fluffy selves before the... you know... and i know the chickens certainly knew.

and while and ryan and his brother were planning their funerals. i played with a little frog...i am a little scared that i may have squeezed it a little too tight. it was still moving alright! just not as much.

jeff and ryan came back like this...

after they were all "passed on"... they had to be boiled in a pot so their feathers would come off nice and easy.
this is actually quite remarkable how this machine works.

it has little rubber fingers all on the inside....

all the feathers come out the bottom. its so crazy. quite the invention.

after this, they had to be put in a cooler and then bagged and boiled to make it air tight.

and that's how they got to the freezer.
the end.
